Who is Dick Abel?

Former football coach, foundation executive, general, pilot… a leader.

Dick Abel founded Leadership is ALL About People and currently serves as its president.  All about People is a half-day seminar program that focuses on the person of the leader. Dick is an internationally known speaker on family values, military affairs, and moral leadership. He has authored “The DNA of Leadership“. The book, like the interactive seminar he presents, focuses on four essential principles of leadership and eighteen characteristics that form our lives.

Dick retired as a Brigadier General in the United States Air Force. While on active duty he was a pilot, led the “Warhawk” jet acrobatic team, was an assistant football coach at the United States Air Force Academy and held several Public Affairs positions He is the father of four and grandfather of nineteen and has been a mentor to numerous young men.

During his 30-year career he served three 4-star admirals and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He also made five flights to escort returning POWs from Vietnam. His career concluded with his assignment as Director of Public Affairs, United States Air Force.

After retiring in 1985, he was on the senior staff of the US Olympic Committee, later became National President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and then was the Executive Director of the Military Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ for 14 years. That, coupled with his 30-year career makes him a 44-year servant to military members and their families who are focused on protecting the freedoms and way of life we enjoy in America.

He serves on several boards and has military decorations and awards from his time in the Air Force. General Abel is married to the former Ann Voelcker from San Antonio and they currently reside in the Hampton Roads, Virginia.
